Im not certain but id bet that the 300gr expanding subs are a lot longer than the 300gr SMK that is used in the 338 spectre. Also i think the ability to put 300gr EXPANDING subs is the selling point. That seems to have taken care of the problem. The 338 spectre has like 44 mag velocity as far as supers go where the 8.6 has 308 (16') velocity. I polished the lugs and the bearing surface on the bolt because it had a very rough finish. Completed rounds from left to right: Hornady GMX 225gr (2.10') Barnes TTSX 225gr (2.10') Lapua 250gr (2.10ish) and Lapua 300gr (2.20'). The gun would go "click", and there was no dent in the primer. Pictures:You will see a normal 10mm Auto case, the case ran through the Seater Die, then ran through the sizer die for sizing. I also had a problem with the bolt not fully rotating into position when the bolt carrier was fully closed. The added spring pressure of the new kit also made it harder to get the extractor over the case rim, so I had to polish the extractor nose. The extractor spring was not strong enough to pull the round from the chamber, so I had to add the extractor spring upgrade kit. I've had some issues with the 6.8spc bolt I got from DPMS. Peterson Cartridge Company has been an eager and instrumental partner in the development of the EnABELR cartridge and the. Peterson Cartridge Company made brass in both 338 and 375 EnABELR. The load data I have for that, shows the 200gr bullet going 1550 fps with 18gr of 4227. The 375 EnABELR is like a scaled up 338 Norma, which is a cartridge known for inherent precision and reliable long term performance. I have recently picked up some 200gr Hornady V-Max bullets for working up a super-sonic hunting load, but have not gotten to loading any yet. With 12 grains of IMR4227 in the 16" barrel and the suppressor attached, I get 1075 fps with the gas system shut off (scary quiet!), and 1025 fps with the gas system in the "suppressed" position with the action cycling. The Lapua bullet was a little more accurate, and was averaging just over 1 MOA at 100 yards. I'm currently using a 2.26" OAL for both rounds. The Lapua bullet will seat further towards the rifling if they are loaded with the same OAL. I'm using 12 grains of IMR 4227 behind either the 300gr Sierra Matchking or the 300gr Lapua bullets.
